What is best time of year to come?
People visit Joshua Tree year around. My favorite time of the year is spring when the Joshua trees and wild flowers/cacti are in blooms. Late Sept/early Oct is really nice too. Winter and the holidays are also popular. It’s colder but you can make a fire and be cozy. Summers can be very hot, but it is a beautiful time to visit. We have a large scale swamp cooler that keeps they house air conditioned. We recommend staying out of the heat during the middle of the day and going our more in the early AM and evening.

The main house comfortably sleeps groups of up to 10 people. It is an ideal set up for families, groups of rock climbers, groups of friends, birthday weekends, etc. There is an a second rental unit next door that sleeps up to 4.

The last 1 mile to the house is on dirt roads. You can see other homes nearby but they are at least a football field away.

We strongly recommend arriving for the first time during daylight hours. The house can be hard to find at night on dark dirt roads. Once you confirm your reservations we will send you a house manual with detailed instructions to find house.
Can I bring my pet?
Sorry, but your furry friends are going to have to find other accommodations.
Is the house kid friendly?
I would caution that the hi-desert in general is not that great for toddlers and young kids. Outside their are cactus everywhere, sharp rocks, coyotes, snakes, scorpions, extreme temperatures, etc. Inside Spirit Wind there are more cacti, art, breakable objects, lots of railings, spiral stairs, nice rugs, etc. You know your kids best and know what they can handle. Parents should be very aware that small children would need to be supervised 24-7 at Spirit Wind. We do not have kids and the house in not particularly set up for them, although many kids have had a fun at the house. That being said, Joshua Tree & Spirit Wind are great place to bring older kids and teenagers.

Why, yes we do. We have a full hook up for a full size RV, that includes sanitation, power and water connections. It is sometimes available for rent, when our RV’ing parents are out on the road looking for America.
What kind of wild life?
We like to say that Spirit Wind is “where the wild things are”. Depending on when you come you might see black tailed jack rabbits, lizards, snakes, roadrunners, ground squirrels, kangaroo rats, coyotes, scorpions, spiders, doves, Gambel’s quail, butterflies, yucca moths, a variety of birds, etc. It is important to remember that the hi-desert is home to all these wild creatures and that we humans are the visitors. Please be very respectful of the flora and fauna at Spirit Wind, and leave the creatures in peace.
Do you have a pool?
No, but we might add one in the future.
What is your kitchen set up like?
The kitchen is brand new, with high end Bosch and Jenn Aire appliances. It is fully stocked with cooking gear. You just need to bring food and beverages. We have condiments and some misc. pantry items.
